Pidgeon Trust selects WebDeck to make the digital leap

Pidgeon Audio Visual chooses Solid State Group to put architectural and design presentations online
The Pidgeon Audiovisual collection of illustrated talks by architects and related designers is a unique library of contemporary attitudes which will become of priceless value to future generations. Started in 1979 by Monica Pidgeon, the purpose of the series, which up till now consists of some 220 of these illustrated talks, is to widen the horizons of students of architecture and design by giving them the opportunity to share the thinking of leading members of the profession worldwide to whom they might not have access.
For this purpose Pidgeon Trust, has been established by Peter Murray of Wordsearch, the Architecture communications company. The main purpose of the trust will be to secure the future of this digital project. It will also be responsible for an educational fund for young architects to study at the Architectural Association School in London, which will be supported by income generated by this website.
Pidgeon Trust chose WebDeck Content Management System (CMS) for ease-of-use and experience with integrating Flash. The presentations make use of Macromedia Flash to ensure a consistent user experience. The Flash application was developed in house by Solid State Group and sources content directly from WebDeck via an XML interface. This allows for content to be stored only once in WebDeck and published via the flash player or onto the Web. Additionally, Dublin Core metadata is added to all the digital assets allowing for federated searches with educational aggregators such as JISC and ATHENS.
